This Ford Escort Mk2 Harrier project is being delivered as a refinement-led restomod, guided by detailed assessment, clear intent, and a respect for the car’s original character.
Originally a late-production, limited-edition Mk2 Escort, this Harrier no longer exists in factory specification. Acquired without its original drivetrain and already mechanically enhanced, the project naturally moved away from originality-led restoration and toward a more proportionate restomod approach. Following comprehensive Phase 2 and Phase 3 assessments, the direction was set to optimise and balance what was already present — improving confidence, usability, and cohesion without diluting the analogue driving experience that defines the Escort.
The focus of this build is not reinvention, but sympathetic enhancement. Power, braking, suspension, interior, and presentation are being developed as a complete system, ensuring every modification is complementary, purposeful, and appropriate to the intended use: a high-quality show car with selective, engaging road use. Original visual identity is retained, finish quality is elevated throughout, and modern solutions are applied discreetly where they add genuine value.
This Build Diary documents the project phase by phase, capturing decisions, craftsmanship, and progress as the Harrier evolves into a well-resolved, characterful restomod — faithful to its roots, but engineered to be enjoyed with confidence today.
