After a visual inspection of the vehicle the following areas of concern were raised.The vehicle has obviously suffered substantial damage from the accident and it is apparent that parts of the bodywork will need to be replaced, the side skirt is heavily damaged along with the door. There are carbon fibre attachment tags that have been broken and will require repair. The rest of the bodywork seems to of been unaffected. Although there are missing parts that we can see, these are the 2 intake ducts that sit inside the front bumper.Onto the chassis and it is clear that a replacement front bumper side mount has been fitted and does not appear to be OEM, along with the front bumper mounting plate which is missing.There appears to be a bent chassis member at the rear, this will need to be replaced and a squareness check performed on the rear end of the car to assess if more damage has been done than what is visible.Customer stated that the RR wheel has a bent mount but no visible damage can be seen upon inspection so will need looking into further.The bonnet pull is broken and will require replacement.
I have undertaken an assessment of the chassis and box section frame assemblies at the front and rear of the vehicle. There is clear damage and impact distortion to the right hand side of the rear chassis box section frame and rear right arm clevis. The extent of this damage does not appear ,at this time, to continue much further across the chassis or into the frames, it seems to be localised to the right hand rear area surrounding the clevis. The impact has caused the rear frame out of square by as much as 10mm in places, some gussets are also damaged and distorted. In order for the frame to be repaired I would need full access to the area and would suggest that it is necessary to remove the engine, gearbox, sump and differential as a minimum in order to gain the access needed to repair the frames correctly.
The rear lower arms were fist unfastned & bolts removed. I would like to mention that throughout work the majority of fastners & bolts were loose. The rear shock bolts was then removed & lower arm pivoted. With the driveshafts previously un bolted it was then possible to extract.
The engine and gearbox has now been removed. We had multiple staff members working together to guide the engine and gearbox assembly out. We have then sat the engine onto a tyres and then on a pallet for transport. We also removed the gearbox from the engine and put that on a separate pallet.
The parts have been wrapped up and placed kn a pallet and all three pallets will be wrapped up and strapped down for transport.
Following extensive panel alignment, preparation and surface control, the Murciélago reached a defining paint milestone. The bonnet, front bumper, original engine cover and rear panels were first brought into topcoat using Auto RARA’s Lustra X protocol. On 9 June, the shell and doors followed, fully topcoated to the same Lustra X standard.
The freshly painted shell and components were then moved into a protected curing area before the staged flatting and polishing process. This is where the finish is refined through progressively finer stages, reducing minor texture and developing the depth, clarity and uniformity expected from the completed restoration.
With the principal body surfaces now in colour and the remaining panels moving through final preparation and topcoat, the project had crossed from repair and preparation into the controlled finishing phase. It is a major visual milestone—and an equally important technical one—because the quality of this foundation will determine how every panel reads once assembly begins.
From the initial accident-damage assessment to the latest paintwork, this restoration has now reached a major milestone. Detailed measurements identified distortion in the right rear chassis structure, with sections of the rear frame up to 10 mm out of square. The engine and gearbox were removed, the shell was positioned on a Cellette jig, and damaged structural sections and brackets were fabricated or remanufactured to return the rear quarter and surrounding structure to the correct tolerances.
In parallel, the suspension, hubs and braking assemblies have been dismantled and assessed; interior components have been repaired and retrimmed; and the V12 has been stripped for detailed measurement and rebuild planning. Following repeated dry-fitting, panel alignment and quality-control checks, the shell and doors received their Lustra X topcoat in June 2026.
Current position: the painted shell is undergoing curing, flatting and polishing while remaining panels, trim and mechanical components progress. V12 component assessment and parts sourcing continue ahead of controlled rebuild and reassembly.
